Annie is a Croatian Chowhound (always on the hunt for chow)therapy dog working with the Medical University of South Carolina.

The Adventures of Therapy Dog Annie and Friends is a children's coloring book about dogs that work in a hospital setting. The dogs visit patients and staff members to bring comfort and happiness to their time in the hospital. The dogs also enjoy their time away from the hospital playing with friends and playing ball.

Annie and I worked with multiple classes of students to talk to them about therapy animals.
After learning about therapy animals, they all wrote their own fictional pet therapy stories.
We turned these stories into the illustrated children's book Get Well Soon
The proceeds are donated to the Medical University of South Carolina Pet Therapy program.
The print edition of this book is a full color, hardback edition of high quality that will bring years of enjoyment and can be enjoyed by children and adults of all ages
The digital edition of Get Well Soon includes all of the same stories as the print edition, but also has additional stories and illustrations not included in the print edition.

Annie has been working at the Medical University of South Carolina for 2 years. She loves to visit patients and staff at the hospital, performing tricks and providing company to bring as much joy and happiness as she can to their day.
As part of Annie's work with MUSC, she worked with her therapy handler as part of the Pawsome Story Time program. Pawsome Story Time is a catalog of videos of pet therapy teams reading children's books For children of all ages, spending time with a therapy dog brings smiles, giggles, and happy feelings. Hopefully when the dogs are not available in person, these stories will provide similar excitement.
MUSC Pet Therapy teams are unpaid teams that work as part of the hospital volunteer department. Donations to the program help to provide basic necessities like hand sanitizer as well as fun trading cards that are given to patients throughout the hospital system.

Pet therapy is a broad category that includes animal assisted therapy (AAT) and other animal-assisted activities.
AAT is a growing field that uses dogs or other animals to help people recover from or better deal with health problems, such as stoke, heart disease, cancer, psychological disorders, and more.
Animal-assisted activities have a more general goal, such as providing comfort and enjoyment for patients and staff in medical facilities, nursing homes, and students/employees in schools.
Certified therapy dogs not only reduce stress, depression and blood pressure, they improve self-esteem, increase physical mobility, provide comfort and eradicate loneliness. When partnered with physicians, therapists and nurses, canine intervention can also assist patients reach health goals, remain positive and motivated.
